Mike Robertson

introduction by Lion Robert Watson

"Mike has a personal style that is wholly unique. I have enjoyed his speeches on many occasions, and have been enthralled and touched every time. He has a marvelous sense of humor, and uses it to entertain and charm, but also to teach.” — Mark Eldridge Global Account Director, The Walt Disney Company at SAP

Mike RobertsonSpeakers Bio: Mike Robertson is an award-winning speaker, author, musician and storyteller. With over a thousand hours of speaking experience, he has perfected his unique blend of humorous insight and motivation through personal stories with which everyone can identify.

Mike was winning state-level speaking competitions even in high school (which was longer ago than he’d like to admit). A member of the National Speakers Association and Toastmasters International, his confidence, sense of humor and perceptive-though-quirky point of view make him what you always hope a speaker will be: memorable, entertaining and challenging.

Mike’s major theme is creativity and his passion is helping others to awaken the creative abilities already within them. His presentation is filled with humorous personal stories which show how his life has benefited from a creative approach to problem-solving, an approach which audiences can learn to implement with a simple, three-part formula.

Mike is the author of two books. This Is Where I Came In is a novel about the earliest days of the motion picture business. Much of it takes place in the Austin of 1896-1910 and reflects the copious research behind this story, which is now part of the permanent collection at the Austin History Center. Shiny Spots In the Rust is a collection of humorous, inspiring essays.

Mike is currently writing his third book, The Pizza, The Peach, and the Platypus, an accompaniment to his presentations on becoming more creative.

Mike is married to Lisa Robertson, video producer and director at Riverbend Church. They have one daughter, Lindsey, who graduated from UT’s theater program in May and has just moved to New York City to begin her acting career.

Visit Mike’s website at www.IsThisMikeOn.com to see video clips, read testimonials, learn about his speaking topics, and to join the Creative Crew, a participatory group where you can share your own creative explorations.
