DG Dennis will review his goals for the district, which aim to inspire clubs to gain and retain members, as well as explore new and innovative ideas for service projects.  The main focus is finding ways to make members come to your club meetings to have fun and get engaged in the community. We want to "Make a Difference in Our Communities". 

About our Speaker

District Governor Dennis Gutierrez received his Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement degree from Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State University, in December of 1987. He began his career in law enforcement after graduating from SWT at the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and retired as a Lieutenant in December of 2023 after 36 years of service in which he supervised many different divisions within the agency and received a multitude of awards and commendations from law enforcement agencies as well as from the community. He is extremely active in community organizations, youth soccer, and school organizations and events.

Lion Dennis began his journey in Lionism in December of 2018 with the San Marcos Lions Club in San Marcos has held several positions in the club as Vice President, Club President for two consecutive years, and Club Administrator. He received the Lion of the Year and President’s Award in 2021, and the Club Excellence Award in 2022. On the District level, he served for 2 years as Zone Chair, 1st and 2nd Vice District Governor positions and was the District 2S-3 Convention Chair in 2024. He attended the USA-Canada Leadership Forum in Louisville, Kentucky in 2024 where he received his bachelor’s degree from Lions University. He received an LCI Letter of Appreciation in 2024 and the District Excellence Award in 2025. He later received another LCI Letter of Appreciation in 2025.

His passion is childhood cancer, and he has been involved with the Sunshine Kids Foundation out of Houston for the past 12 years. The Foundation provides exciting, positive group activities and opportunities for children with cancer so they may once again do what Kids are meant to do… have fun and celebrate life. He is currently the community liaison for the Sunshine Kids’ annual Hill Country Adventure, in which 28 children battling cancer, along with 7 nurses, spend a week in San Marcos enjoying a multitude of events. District Governor Dennis loves sports, cooking, travelling, and meeting new people. He has three children and 3 grandchildren. According to him, “Life is Good”!

  • Assorted sandwiches: Turkey & Gruyere; Turkey & Provolone; Roast Beef and Swiss; Smoked Ham & Swiss; Curried Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad
  • Sandwich with Gluten Free Bread (Turkey & Provolone and/or Smoked Ham & Swiss).
  • Chef Salad with ham & turkey or Greek Salad (vegetarian)

All sandwiches come with lettuce and tomato. Mustard and mayo on the side.

We order meals based on your reservations and must pay for them even if you do not show up.
