Thursday May 29, 2025 11:45 am to 1:00 pm

WE'RE MEETING AT MUNY!
Lions Municipal Golf Course
2901 Enfield Road, Austin TX 78703

Scotty Sayers
Shannon Provost

Introduced by Lion Gaylord Armstrong

As the co-chair with legendary Austin golfer Ben Crenshaw of the Muny Conservancy, an organization dedicated to the preservation of Lions Municipal Golf Course, Scotty Sayers will update us on the efforts to ‘Save Muny’. As the long time sports agent and business manager of Ben Crenshaw, winner of two Masters Tournaments and one of the greatest golfers of all time, Scotty will no doubt also have many stories to share about ‘Gentle Ben’.

About our speakers:

Scotty Sayers is well known on the local and national golf scene, having worked with Ben Crenshaw as his agent/business manager since 1985. In addition, he is a partner at Coore & Crenshaw, one of the leading golf course architecture firms in the country, handling new business inquiries, contracts and scheduling for the company.

From 2013-2020 he served as executive producer of the Sirius/XM PGA Tour Radio Program CRENSHAW ON GOLF and since 2016 has co-hosted a local radio show, The Fifteenth Club, with his longtime friend Ed Clements, to promote Austin golf and specifically the effort to Save Muny.

Born in Fort Worth, but a resident of Austin for 60 years, Sayers is a University of Texas graduate and has served the community in a variety of roles including Chairman of the Texas State Cemetery Commission for 12 years, a past president of West Austin Youth Association, and co-executive director of the Austin High Alumni Association. He currently serves as co-chair (with Ben Crenshaw) of the Muny Conservancy, a group dedicated to the preservation of the 97-year-old Lions Municipal Golf Course.

Scotty has been married to Austin native Julie Ferguson Sayers for 47 years, and has two daughters, Samantha (Bernstein) and Charisse Sayers, and two grandchildren, Blake Sophia Bernstein, 12, and Stuart Bowman Bernstein, 8, who both enjoy learning the game at Lions.

Shannon Provost is a lifelong Austinite and active member of The Muny Conservancy Board of Directors. She helped to secure the nomination of Lions Municipal Golf Course to the National Register of Historic Places. When she is not playing golf at Muny, Shannon also teaches statistics to undergraduates at UT Austin’s McCombs School of Business.
