About our Speaker:
David Gray is the Director of the City of Austin's Homeless Strategy Office. In this role, he oversees the city’s strategic efforts to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring. He joined the Homeless Strategy Office in December 2023 following previous roles as the Assistant Director for Austin’s Economic Development Department, Interim Director for Austin’s Planning Department, and Interim Assistant Director for Austin’s Housing and Planning Department. Prior to joining the City of Austin, David served as the Community Benefits Division Manager for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission; Chief of Staff for the Mayor’s Office in Richmond, CA; and Poverty to Opportunity Projector Coordinator for the Louisiana Budget Project. David earned his Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley, and his undergraduate degrees (B.A. Sociology, B.A. Social Policy and Practice) from Tulane University of Louisiana. He is a member of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). He is a graduate of the NFBPA Executive Leadership Institute, enrolled in Leadership ICMA, and is earning his Certified Public Manager credential from Texas State University.
