Introduced by Lion Ann Ward
Mended Little Hearts’ mission is to inspire hope and improve the quality of life of heart patients and their families through ongoing peer-to-peer support, education and advocacy. Members are parents, patients and family members who are impacted by congenital heart disease (CHD) and want to use their experiences to improve the lives of others.
The Patient Faculty Advisory Council, or PFAC, is a partnership of patients, over the age of 18, family members, physicians, clinicians and hospital leadership collaborating to shape and inform the ideal family-centered experience at Dell Children's Medical Center.
About our speaker:
Dana Henning is the wife of Brian for 24 years, and mother of their 12-year-old, spectacular son, Evan. She is a stay-at-home mom, homeschools her special needs son, cares for her elderly mother and loves volunteering in hopes of making a difference in her community. She is passionate about supporting families affected by their child being diagnosed with a congenital heart defect(s), as her son is a heart transplant recipient. She volunteers as the Coordinator of Mended Little Hearts of the Austin Region. In addition, she is a member of Dell Children's Medical Center's Patient Faculty Advisory Council (PFAC), and serves on the Steering Team of The MomCo at Calvary Smithville. Before her son was born, Dana worked as the Center Director of the Sylvan Learning Center in Bastrop, and she taught elementary level music and academics in public and private schools. She adores spending time with family and friends, singing, playing and listening to music, gardening, swimming, camping and crafting.
For lunch you can order at Cisco's Muny Cafe in the clubhouse. If you are ordering from Cisco’s you should be there to place your order by 11:30 am.
