The Downtown Austin Alliance is to create, preserve and enhance the vibe, vitality and value of downtown Austin for everyone.
The Downtown Austin’s Space Activation program (DASA) is a call to action for Austinites to take an active role in making downtown the place they want it to be. Through DASA, we’re transforming empty, underutilized spaces and are turning them into a platform for social impact, community connectivity, and inclusive prosperity. Through supporting diverse artists, business owners, and more, downtown sustains its vibrancy and cultivates economic, social, and cultural benefits.
About our speaker:
Vanessa Olson directs the external communication and marketing efforts of the Downtown Austin Alliance. Since joining the organization in 2017, Vanessa has contributed significantly to key projects including the community’s Downtown Vision, two strategic plans, and managing the successful 10-year authorization of the Downtown PID. Vanessa has worked to realize the Downtown Vision through co-creation of the organization’s educational events and reports, including the annual Future of Downtown event and annual State of Downtown report.
Before joining the Downtown Austin Alliance, Vanessa worked in government relations and political consulting, focusing on organizational development and grassroots lobbying.
Vanessa’s favorite activities to enjoy downtown live music at the Moody Theatre, walks around Lady Bird Lake, and experiencing the many culinary delights downtown has to discover.
