About our Speaker:
Vikki Goodwin is serving her third term representing Texas House District 47 in Western Travis County which includes parts of Austin, Bee Cave and Lake Travis. In her three sessions, she has focused on supporting public schools, addressing health and public safety issues, and helping small businesses.
In her third session, four of her bills became law. Two of the laws, the Natalia Cox Act and Cati’s Act, both resulted from tragedies and both intend to prevent other families from going through similar tragedies. Another law expands Acudetox, a non-pharmaceutical mental health therapy, and her fourth law created the Texas Food System Security and Resiliency Planning Council.
Rep. Goodwin works across the aisle for sound policy that benefits the people of Texas.
In addition to raising a family in Southwest Austin, Vikki operates a small business and is a residential real estate broker. Over the years, Vikki has been involved in her community, volunteering on boards and with various organizations, including Rotary Club Southwest Austin, Impact Austin and the Shady Hollow HOA. Through her involvement, Vikki understands the issues that matter most to the residents of District 47.
Vikki grew up in Dallas, and moved to Austin in 1985 to attend the University of Texas, graduating with a BBA. She continued on to earn her masters, MPA, from the LBJ School of Public Affairs in 1991.
