Austin Founder Lions Club
When: Thursday May 19, 2022 12:30 pm Where: via Zoom
Caitlin M. Giesler, MDDirector, Women’s Heart Program Cardiologist, Ascension Medical Group
Introduced by Lion Alan Ford
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the US. One in 3 women die from heart disease while 1 in 30 women will die from breast cancer. Women are more likely to die following a heart attack compared with men, and women have worse outcomes when diagnosed with heart failure. This gender gap is the reason for the Women’s Heart Program at Ascension Seton. The good news is that the more we understand the differences between men and women, the better we can care for everyone. We will learn of the latest developments in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart diseases, with special emphasis on the gender differences in heart conditions. There will be time for questions regarding general heart health and Covid-19 effects on the heart as well.
