Brainstorming for the Future

DATE: April 29, 2021  12:30 pm via Zoom

Led by Lion Ann Ward

COVID has changed the world forever in many ways. New needs have been identified, and technology is changing how people do things. This is a good time to think about community service, and brainstorm about potential new service programs that may be more relevant to Austin in today’s environment and to today’s Austin Founder Lions.

Members are invited to submit an idea using the New Idea Form  for a new service project or fund-raiser, or suggest ways to enhance or update an existing activity. During the April 29 meeting, several “new ideas” will be presented for consideration, and meeting attendees will participate in a real-time Zoom poll to determine which merit further exploration. Ideas will be “pitched” anonymously, so no fears of embarrassment or retribution!

Why are we doing this? As the world changes, Austin Founder Lions must continue to evolve and adapt community services to current needs while also maintaining focus on the five LCI areas of service:  vision, hunger, diabetes, the environment and pediatric cancer.

New ideas generate enthusiasm and involve different people. In February 2020 just before COVID, AFLC hosted the club’s first-ever Casino Night, which was lots of fun and a great financial success. That idea came from a new, younger member, and it took about 16-18 months to bring it to fruition. After thorough research including an acceptable budget forecast, the board took a chance on something new and it paid off!

Hopefully on April 29, Austin Founder Lions will identify a few service and fund-raising ideas to explore further.

Please submit your idea(s) using the New Idea Form  and help keep the oldest Lions Club in the world vibrant and relevant! Everyone’s perspective is important , so be part of this brainstorming session. Let’s “think outside the box”!
