About our Speaker:
As a manager at VSP Global, it’s Gilbert Melgoza’s mission to bring quality eye care to the masses and educate them on the importance of overall eye health.
Specifically, Melgoza is Charity Care Manager of VSP’s Eyes of Hope programs. Eyes of Hope supports local communities around the globe through initiatives that provide access to eye care, eyewear and disaster relief to places where it’s needed most. To date, VSP Eyes of Hope has provided access to no-cost eye care and eyewear for more than 3.3 million people.
Melgoza’s career with VSP Vision Care spans more than 32 years. He dedicated his first 24 years to the IT department, managing key corporate projects. While in IT, Melgoza volunteered at mobile clinic outreach events where free eye exams and glasses were being provided to patients. It took his participation at only a few such events to change his outlook on life, as well as his career path at VSP.
From a volunteer, he has leaped to management of the Eyes of Hope programs, growing it to include mobile clinic outreach, disaster relief, VSP gift certificates, portable exam equipment and an eyewear donation program.
When not carrying out his mission at VSP, Gilbert enjoys spending time with his family, tending to his garden, and creating unique stained-glass décor.
