Chip Brown has covered Texas and the Big 12 for Orangebloods.com since 2008. In the summer of 2010, he broke several stories about college realignment that landed him and his coverage on ESPN and other national TV and radio shows. He also serves as a regular guest analyst on Your News Now and Time Warner's Non-Stop Sports Channel in Austin.
Brown has been in Austin since 1992, when he began covering the Capitol and the Texas Longhorns for The Associated Press.
In 1998, Brown began covering Texas for The Dallas Morning News. In 2001 and 2002, Brown moved to Dallas to cover the Cowboys before returning to Austin to resume covering Texas in 2003.
Brown attended SMU, where he helped cover the football scandal that led to the Death Penalty as a reporter for the student newspaper The Daily Campus.
Brown has received numerous awards, including the John L. Dougherty Award for "excellence by a young AP writer"; the Associated Press staffer of the year; as well as a Headliner Award for sports reporting.
