Meet a Texas Food and Wine legend, Ed Auler, founder and winemaker at Fall Creek Vineyards. Ed and his wife Susan will talk about both the past and the future of the Texas wine industry as well as some of the challenges he has met and overcome on the way to establishing the Texas Hill Country as a respected wine industry destination.

Lunch menu:

We will be enjoying Beef Burgundy with charbroiled asparagus and Italian rice pilaf, with mixed field green salad, assorted dinner rolls and dessert. Alternatively, Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad is available or a Vegetarian plate.

EdAuler_Winemaker_speakerLionsClulFormer attorney (B.A. The University of Texas, J.D. The University of Texas), Ed Auler and his wife, Susan, are involved in numerous business activities in Texas, namely real estate, ranching, oil and gas, and since 1975, Fall Creek Vineyards.

Ed was the first person to bring wine-growing to the Texas Hill Country, and he established the “Texas Hill Country” appellation in 1989. Fall Creek Vineyards has been at the forefront of the Texas wine industry, both in terms of awards and sales and is the third largest winery in sales in Texas.

Ed has been president of TGGA, Director of the American Vintners Association, and Chairman of the Associated Wineries of Texas, as well as founder with his wife, Susan, of the Saveur Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival. He received the 1989 Louis F. Qualia award for Outstanding Contributions to the Texas Wine Industry.

Ed and Susan were named Who’s Who in Food and Wine in Texas and People of Vision by the Texas Society to Prevent Blindness, received the Savor Dallas “Spirit Award”, and Colorado River Foundation’s Service Award. They have received numerous other honors and recognitions. Susan was recognized by Wines and Vines magazine as one of the Top 50 people in the wine world, and she also was named outstanding alumnus in Human Ecology by The University of Texas.
