Introduction by Lion Jim Overton

Come meet State Representative Paul Workman as he brings us the latest news and updates from the current working Texas Legislative session. He will discuss his experience as a freshman representative and dealing with the processes, his success rate with his bills and the general perspective of his first involvement with the Legislature.


Speaker's Bio:



Texas State Representative Paul WorkmanRepresentative Workman was elected in November 2010 to District 47 in the Texas House of Representatives. He is the founder of Austin-based Workman Commercial Construction Services, Ltd., constructing commercial buildings for more than 37 years.

After earning a BS in Building Construction from Texas A&M University in 1973, Paul served 10 years in the US Army Reserves as an Engineer Officer, retiring, after serving as a Company Commander, at the rank of Captain.

In addition to his public and military service, Paul is active in civic leadership roles. He has been a Rotarian since 1976, serving as President of the Rotary Club of Austin in 1998. He is a National Director of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America and also serves on the board of Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse - Central Texas.

For thirteen years Paul was President of CompGroup AGC (a workers compensation purchasing group) and continues to serve on that board. He was Chairman of the Board of the AGC – Texas Building Branch in 2008 as well as Chairman of the Austin AGC chapter in 1996. His civic service also includes eight years on the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Council of Austin.
