Turk Pipkin introduced by Lion Alan Ford
Austin old-timers will remember him as a skilled juggler, and a regular at Esther’s Follies. But today, writer and filmmaker Turk Pipkin is the co-founder of the global education nonprofit The Nobelity Project (www.nobelity.org) and the director of three feature documentaries about global issues. As an actor, Turk has appeared in Waiting for Guffman, The Alamo, Friday Night Lights and in recurring roles in two HBO series, The Sopranos and The Leftovers.
He is also the author of ten books including the NY Times bestseller, THE TAO OF WILLIE, coauthored with Willie Nelson. His latest project, Turk Pipkin’s Book of the every other Month Club, is a subscription series of six new books written by Turk. Three new novels and three more fun books in a year - Turk has been busy!
The Nobelity Project is bridging gaps in education to improve quality of learning and create connections to the world we all share. In East Africa, Latin America and the U.S., Nobelity Project partnerships build critically needed school infrastructure, support literacy and scholarship, and promote conservation and community involvement. To learn more about upcoming events and global initiatives, watch feature films, and see photos of their work, see www.nobelity.org.
