Zilker Hillside Theater

June 15, 2017

Melita Noël
Introduced by Lion Mac Ragsdale

Our program this week will give you the history and legacy of one of Austin’s most iconic venues, the Zilker Hillside Theatre. For over 50 years generations of Austin families have converged on the hillside to experience free live theater at their summer musical productions. You will hear about their new accessibility night, reserved for those with disabilities, and volunteer opportunities. We will also be entertained by certain surprise mystery guests playing out vignettes from this year’s blockbuster musical ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Will there be flying monkeys? Will we see Lion Peggy Brunner in her ruby slippers? We will certainly see lots of Lions, and Tigers, and Bears….oh my!

About our speaker:
As a 5th grader, Melita Noël was bitten by the theater bug. Since then, she has enjoyed the spotlight onstage, backstage, and in the orchestra pit for 16 community productions. In 2016, she was thrilled to join the Zilker Theatre Productions team for Shrek The Musical. For the 59th annual Zilker Summer Musical, Melita eagerly anticipates seeing the fantastical elements of the classic Wizard of Oz come to life under the stars at the Zilker Hillside Theater.

Melita enjoys working with ZTP as she combines her love for musical theater with more than 15 years’ experience in marketing, PR, sales, and brand management. In addition to holding a Master’s degree in arts, her proficiencies include fundraising and marketing for non-profits, donor relations, and strategic partnerships.
