WHY IS AUSTIN “THE LIVE MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD?” A SURPRISING ANSWER!

Find out the connection between an Austin elementary music classroom in 1888 and our town’s current status as “The Live Music Capital of the World!” How is Austin’s native son Blues star Gary Clark, Jr. linked to Austin Downtown Lions Club Founder Sam Sparks? Part of the answer involves the original 1920’s version and the current version of the UIL Music Memory Program, where students in grades 2 – 8 are taught music listening skills while learning to love gorgeous, timeless music masterworks.
