Alison Macor interviewed more than 200 subjects for Chainsaws, Slackers, and Spy Kids: Thirty Years of Filmmaking in Austin, Texas (University of Texas Press), which won the 2011 Peter C. Rollins Book Award. She spent eight years as a film critic for the Austin Chronicle and the Austin American-Statesman. She holds a Ph.D. in film studies and has taught at the University of Texas and Texas State University. She recently finished her second book, a biography entitled Rewrite Man: The Life and Career of Screenwriter Warren Skaaren, which will also be published by University of Texas Press.
