In 2022, voters approved a $2.44B bond program for Austin Independent School District to modernize facilities district wide . AISD officials will give us a status report on the progress of that program, as well as outline the district’s current and future needs.

About our speakers:

Born and raised just outside of San Antonio, Michael Mann comes from a family of educators but chose a slightly different path in life. After high school, Michael attended the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture, graduating in 2001. After graduation, he moved to San Antonio, working as an Architect on a wide range of projects. In 2010, Michael returned to Austin to take a job as a Project Manager, working on various project types, including K-12 schools. While his career has centered around Architecture and construction, he did end up following in his family's footsteps in a roundabout way, working in the Construction Management Department Austin ISD for the last 10+ years. Michael is currently the Executive Director of Construction Management with the AISD Construction Management Department and is proud to be part of a great community of professionals, advancing and improving learning environments for the students and the communities of AISD.

April Glenn is a native Texan who grew up in Friendswood and graduated from Midway High School in Waco. Following graduation, she moved to Austin to attend The University of Texas majoring in Education. She completed student teaching at Widen Elementary in Austin ISD and was hired to teach at O. Henry Middle School. She received her Masters degree from the University of Texas and acquired her Administrative Certification from Texas State University. She was promoted to assistant principal at O. Henry Middle School where she served for two years. In 1999 she was afforded the amazing opportunity to open Dennis E. Cowan Elementary as a first year principal. She spent the most amazing 12 years as the Cowan principal. After having three daughters, she made the decision to work closer to home for her family. She worked in Lake Travis ISD as an elementary school principal for five years. She decided to return home to AISD in 2017. She has since served as the interim director of health services, an administrative supervisor assisting with the Long-range plan, and currently an Implementation Supervisor overseeing several modernization projects.
