THEN…

Lion Ann Teich, AISD District 3 Board member, will introduce our new Superintendent, Dr. Stephanie S. Elizalde (ten minutes left after her 30-minute presentation for questions).

FINALLY…

The Lion with the most “Zoom Guests” viewing the entire meeting will receive a $50 VISA gift card from the Club’s Education Committee.

About our speaker:

Dr. Stephanie Elizalde, a native Texan, joined Dallas ISD when she was selected to serve as the Director of Mathematics in the division of Teaching and Learning in June of 2011. Prior to her current appointment as Chief Schools Officer, Dr. Elizalde served in a variety of positions including teacher, assistant principal, principal, director, executive director, assistant superintendent, and deputy chief. With a focus on equity and excellence in education for ALL students, Elizalde has served in diverse school systems from small to large urban settings including Southwest ISD, San Antonio ISD, and Dallas ISD.

Dr. Elizalde understands that campus leadership is the key to transformative change and has a significant impact on student learning second only to the classroom teacher which is why she also embraces ‘The Teacher IS The Program’ tenet. Under her leadership, Dallas ISD developed a program for aspiring leaders focused on coaching with targeted feedback that has produced quality campus principals across the district. She believes that the journey of self-improvement never ends and the development of these programs to grow leaders across Dallas ISD reflects her commitment. She has continued to mentor aspiring principals and district leaders throughout her career.

Dr. Elizalde’s recognitions include being named one of four Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Hispanics in Education for 2014 and a recognition in 2016 by the Dallas Morning News as a Point Person for her work in the community. She was awarded the UT-Austin Dr. Nolan Estes Leadership Ascension Award in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017 and awarded a Presidential Medal by Ana G. Mendez University. She currently serves on the UT Advisory Council for the Texas Principal Leadership Academy and Cooperative Superintendency Program.

Dr. Elizalde is a third generation public school educator following in her grandmother’s and father’s footsteps. She earned her bachelor’s of science in Biology and a master of arts in Educational Leadership and holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Texas at Austin.
