Lions Field Trip
Texas State Cemetery

Tx State Cemetery

Thursday, April 17 will be our Lions Club Field Trip to the State Cemetery located at 909 Navasota Street.

The field trip will be in place of our regular meeting.

Box Lunches will be provided by Jimmy Johns and served in the Visitor Center prior to the tour.

You will have an opportunity to pre-select ham or turkey. Members will be responsible for the cost of their lunch.

Drinks will be provided. Parking is available for all visitors on Navasota Street at the Visitor Center located between 7th Street and 11th street. HC parking is available at the same location.

Please arrive at 11:30 to eat Lunch from 12:00 to 12:45. Our tour will start promptly at 1:00 PM and last approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

This will be a walking tour so wear comfortable shoes and you may want a hat or cap for the sun. You may also want to bring sun screen or an umbrella.

This is an historic tour and we incourage you to visit the State Cemetery web site at: http://www.cemetery.state.tx.us/ to fully appreciate the history offered at this unique Texas Treasure.

Some notable Lions are buried there.

You will leave with not only an appreciation of the work the State of Texas has placed in this cemetery but also the number of Honored Texans that are paid tribute in their final resting place.

Please respond to this announcement by Thursday, April 10 if you plan to attend and if you will be bringing a guest. Tour sizes are limited to 40 visitors per guide. Should our group be larger than 40 we will need to advise the staff in advance that we will need two tours.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, April 17.
