Hugh Forrest and Janet Pierson will be joining us from the SXSW Interactive and SWSW Film conferences to discuss both of these upcoming festivals in March.


Speakers' Bios:



Hugh Forrest, SXSW InteractiveHugh Forrest

Forrest serves as Director of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festival, the five-day gathering of digital creatives that occurs every March in Austin.

An English Major at Kenyon College in Gambier, Oh, Forrest held several jobs in the newspaper industry before surrendering to the revolution of emerging media.






Janet Tiff, SXSW Music FestivalJanet Pierson


The Producer of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival, Janet Pierson is responsible for the vision, programming, and execution of the annual event.

Before joining SXSW in April 2008, Janet spent over 30 years championing independent films and filmmakers, in a variety of roles including distributor, exhibitor, producer’s rep, investor, workshop producer, executive producer, documentary subject, and as co-creator and segment director of the IFC cable TV series Split Screen.

Much of this work was in partnership with her husband, the author, producer, professor, and co-president of Grainy Pictures, John Pierson.

An Austin Film Society Board Member 2004-2010, Pierson is currently on the Advisory Board, and has served on and taken part in several grant panels, festival juries, and advisory roles, including on behalf of the NEA, ITVS, and Creative Capital.



Featured Lunch Menu: Beef Burgandy with fresh asparagus and wild rice, mixed green salad with assorted rolls and a featured daily dessert. Vegetarian meal or Grilled Chicken Caesar salad are available alternatives as well.

We order meals based on your reservations and must pay for them even if you do not show up. Please keep this in mind if your plans shift on the day of our luncheon and cancel your reservation so we can adjust the headcount.
