In this week's program, Dr. Trinh will present to us:

  • Review the essential link between early vision care and learning in children.
  • Summary of Open Eyes Beyond Border mission trip last year to remote villages in Vietnam to provide vision check up for under-served children vision, with glasses provided by VSP and other nonprofits.
  • At home or abroad, Covid-19 and new visual demand, what’s next for vision care and screening?

About our Speaker:

Born in Saigon-Vietnam and came to the US at age 19, Kim Chi understands the importance of education, persistence and hard work in achieving one’s goal.

She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor Degree in Biochemistry, and went on to study optometry at Salus University in Pennsylvania. As an optometrist practicing in her private clinic, Kim Chi Trinh has partnered with many nonprofit organizations, including the Austin Founder Lions Clubs in helping local US communities as a way of giving back to the country she now calls home.

Kim Chi Trinh is also the founder and current president of Open Eyes Beyond Border, a nonprofit organization that focuses on helping disadvantaged children everywhere to see well and learn well.
