Wayne Meissner Introduced by Lion Gaylord Armstrong
Wayne Meissner is one of the most notable and recognized criminal defense attorneys and litigators in Texas. He is also a leader in the local Bar Associations and one of the leading political authorities In Central Texas. Wayne will share with us his perspective on how the social, racial and discrimination issues occurring nationally are affecting Austin and Travis County and the 2020 election.
About our speaker: Wayne Meissner is a native of Victoria, Texas, and received his law degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1967. During over three years in criminal prosecution of misdemeanor and felony cases, Meissner served as First Assistant County Attorney in Amarillo and Austin, Texas. In April, 1971, Meissner joined the Austin law firm of Minton, Burton and Fitzgerald and became a partner that same year, focusing his practice on the defense of criminal matters in state and federal courts. In 1981, Bill Fitzgerald and Meissner formed their present firm. In addition to his trial practice, Meissner has represented numerous clients in state and federal grand jury investigations involving bank and savings and loan, insurance, environmental, government procurement, securities, health care, political and campaign finance fraud issues. As a member of the National and Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Associations, and the Criminal Justice and Health Law Sections of the American Bar Association, he is a frequent lecturer before legal, civic, and school groups on constitutional rights and criminal procedure and is an experienced white collar practitioner.
