David B. Gracy II Introduced by Lion Rudy Munguia
Dr. David B. Gracy II invested his career in Archival Enterprise. He served as president of the Society of American Archivists and the Academy of Certified Archivists. In Texas he served as Texas State Archivist, then established and led the archival concentration in UT’s School of Information, from which he retired as the Governor Bill Daniel Professor in Archival Enterprise Emeritus. He is a Fellow of the Texas State Historical Association and author of five books of history and historical biography including Moses Austin: His Life and most recently A Man Absolutely Sure of Himself: Texan George Washington Littlefield.
Austinite Gracy will steer us through the twists and turns of the great turn-of-the-twentieth-century rivalry between Austin’s two leading banks—the American National and the Austin National. American National president George Littlefield’s LFD cattle brought the rivalry to a triumphant close in a way that not only distinguished the American National, but also remains to this day unique in the history of cattle ranching.
