 Lion Larkin Smith

Lion Larkin joined the San Marcos Lions Club in 1992 and was the Club President in 2012-13, and again in 2015-16. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow, a graduate of the Advanced Lions Leadership Institute and is a recipient of the Lions Clubs International, Presidential Leadership Medal. Larkin is also a Post Advisor for the BSA Medical Exploring Post 4077. He's a certified EMT and is registered with the American Heart Association as an Instructor of First Aid and CPR.

He has been a District Chairperson for the BSA Sacred Springs District in Central Texas, received the William H Spurgeon III award, the highest award for his service to BSA Exploring, served on the Boys Life Staff at two National Jamborees, the charter Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 1954 and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Larkin and Nancy’s two sons are Eagle Scouts.

Larkin is a retired US Army First Sergeant, a deacon at First Baptist Church, a Master Mason and holds a BS degree from Texas State. Professionally, he has received the Small Business of the Year award from the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and the Employee of the Year Award from Central Texas Medical Center.

Lion Larkin and his wife Lion Nancy Smith support a backpack program called School Fuel. This program supplies 703 sacks of food on a weekly basis to students that have been identified as food insecure. These students are in 6 elementary schools in San Marcos.

Nancy and Larkin have been married for 48 years and they have 5 grand children.

Attend the meeting and help us welcome DG Larkin on his official visit to our Club. He will talk about his goals for the district as well as to his expectations for the District and our Club.
