It’s Not Just About Adapted Technology, It’s About the Passion for Learning.
Technology has remove many barriers to education and employment for visually impaired individuals. Adapted or assistive technology items include screen readers, braille displays, audio books for people who are blind and screen magnifiers for low-vision computer users, but it is so much more than that. Renee Toy is the Director of TSBVI's Learning Resource Center, she is also a teacher of the visually impaired, a reading specialist and a librarian. Renee is the go-to person for encouraging literacy and inspiring students to embrace reading, and she does it in a multitude of ways. Please join Renee on a tour of TSBVI's Learning Resource Center and all the adaptations and creations used every day, here at TSBVI from Braille and Audiobooks to 3D printing and more.
Renee Toy has worked at TSBVI for 32 years. She is a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin and has 2 wonderful and smart children who are both in college and a husband who also works at TSBVI as an Occupational Therapist.
