Chris Plonsky has worked in college athletics since 1976 and is in her 29th year at The University of Texas. Since April 2001, she has served as UT's third women's athletics director, and since 1993, she has supervised men's and women's athletics revenue generation areas in sponsorships, tv/radio, brand development and trademark licensing. She and men's AD Mike Perrin have co-reports from Texas Athletics supervisors in student services/academics, sports medicine/athletic training, and compliance/risk management.

The Longhorn Network is a linear and digital channel resulting from collaboration between UT, multimedia rights agency IMG College and world-wide sports leader ESPN. LHN is available to nearly 20 million homes nationwide and features 170 live events annually, including sports contests and UT campus and academic content.

On a volunteer basis, Plonsky is a USA Basketball board member, a USOC Collegiate Committee member and an emeritus board member of the National Football Foundation/College Football Hall of Fame. Plonsky is past president of NACDA -- the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics -- and represents the Big 12 Conference on the LEAD1 board of trustees (formerly Division 1AD Association). In 2013-2014 she served as president of NACWAA (now Women Leaders in College Sports) and NACMA (1999-2000). She's served the NCAA Committee on Academic Performance (CAP), the NCAA President's Task Force on Commercialization, and chaired the NCAA Division I Management Council in 2003.

Plonsky worked in media relations at Iowa State University (1979-81) and Texas (1982-86) and served The BIG EAST Conference from 1986-93 in public relations and associate commissioner/administration capacities prior to returning to Texas in October 1993. Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Greensburg, Pa., and northeast Ohio, Plonsky earned a B.S. Journalism degree in 1979 at Kent State University, where she was a three-year basketball student-athlete, undergraduate KSU athletics media relations assistant, and editor of The Daily Kent Stater. In Austin, Plonsky is a member of many University committees and serves as a volunteer on the University Federal Credit Union supervisory committee.
