COL Pinkerton is from San Jose, California and is a graduate of
San Jose State University
. His education includes a Bachelor of Science from San Jose State University and an MBA from
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Infantry Office Advanced Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the
Joint Forces Staff College
COL Pinkerton took command of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment in July of 2005 where he prepared the battalion for deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08. The battalion was deployed in October 2006 to the Abu Ghraib area west of
until their redeployment in January 2008.
COL Pinkerton relinquished command in April 2008 and was assigned as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G3 for the 1st
COL Pinkerton served as the Division G3 from April 2008 until June 2010, and during this time deployed with the Division from January 2009 through January 2010 in support of OIF 09-10.
COL Pinkerton’s awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Valorous Unit Award, Ranger Tab, Airborne Badge, Air Assault Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, and Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
COL Pinkerton is married to Mrs. Karol Pinkerton and has three sons.
