Lone Star Eye Bank - Jennifer Lopez

The Lone Star Lions Eye Bank (LSLEB) was established in 1974 and is now housed on the building that was donated by Manor Lion, Colonel Eppright. Central Texas Lions Clubs from districts 2-S3, 2-S5, and 2-X3 support the charitable mission of eye donation, eye exams, free glasses, medical missions and sight restoration. 

LSLEB in Manor operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year providing quality eye tissue to transplant surgeons. LSLEB is a Texas 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to the preservation and gift of sight. 

Jennifer Lopez, the new Director of Hospital Development at the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank says “(We work)…through the collection, processing, and distribution of human ocular tissue, progress in medicine through the support of research, and the sponsorship of educational programs for the medical community and general public." When we asked the new director about where cornea donations come from she said they are donated from Hillsboro to Seguin, Palestine to Llano. The corneas cannot be stored for much more than five days and are distributed via courier to local surgical centers. “More than 90% of the corneas used for sight restoration in central Texas are provided by the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank” she says. 

Anyone can become a donor, one way is to designate yourself as a donor is through the department of public safety, the other is by going to www.donatelifetexas.org., or call the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank at (512) 457-0638.

We order meals based on your reservations and must pay for them even if you do not show up. Please keep this in mind if your plans shift and cancel your reservation so we can adjust the headcount.
