Rusty Reames

Rusty Reames has been involved with beep baseball since 1978 in Austin, Texas. In 1993, she co-founded Sports Vision 20/20, a 501(c)3 non-profit which supports Athletics for the Blind.

On paper Rusty Reames is retired. In reality that is far from accurate. She volunteered with Hospice Austin’s Christopher House for 8 years, has worked with people in recovery for 25 years, but her passion for supporting Athletics for the Blind is tireless. Since 1978, Rusty has provided transportation, been the event planner, secretary and chief bottle washer. She served as the tournament director for the 1993 and 1996 World Series of Beep Baseball and has been the chief fund raiser since 1990, organizing 22 successful bowling events to raise sufficient funds necessary to support the Austin Blackhawks as they travel across the United States, plus trips to Puerto Rico, Canada, Taiwan and recently the Dominican Republic in order to promote awareness of blindness. In 2010, she was honored as Austin’s Senior Volunteer of the Year.
