  Speaker: Gene Freudenberg
Introduced by Lion Lillie Gilligan

We will hear a fascinating tale in Texas history of money and power and the fall of an heir to a legacy.

Gene Freudenberg was Bbrn and raised in La Grange, Texas and attended school there.

Upon graduation he served a brief stint in the US Army Reserve program in Ft. Chaffee Ark. Upon returning to Texas he worked at the Texas Highway Department and City of Austin Public Works Engineering Dept. At age 21 he joined the Austin Police Dept retiring after 29 years. After retirement he had a private investigation business for about 10 years.

Gene is married to LaDell Ohnheiser from Schulenburg and has one daughter, Sandi Toungate, who still lives in Austin with her husband, Marvin.  Ther is one granddaughter, Kelsey Toungate who is a junior at UT.

He has been past president Pflugerville Lions Club, Past Potentate Ben Hur Shrine and Chairman of Ben Hur Financial Advisory Committee.

He's always had an interest in history primarily Texas history, local history and family history.  He compiled a book of Freudenberg Family History and related families. Growing up in La Grange he heard a lot of stories and tales about local happenings and characters from some of the people that experienced some of the history of the area.
