Weekly Luncheon & Program

The Story of Texas
introduced by Lion Mac Ragsdale

It would probably take 30 days to tell The Story of Texas, so we're not going to attempt it in just 30 minutes. What we will try to do is tell you the story of the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, which tells The Story of Texas with 3 floors of interactive exhibits and an IMAX theater. Our program will tell us about this pre-eminent museum's creation, history, mission, and behind the scenes anecdotes from the person that was there.

David Denney is the Director of Public Programming at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.  He has served as Director of Public Programming since the Museum opened in 2001. Responsible for program planning and exhibit development, David oversees the Education, Volunteer and Exhibit departments. He has thirty-three years experience as a museum professional, with expertise in interpretive planning, exhibit design and program accessibility.

As a founding staff  member, David led the exhibit and media development and implementation for the Museum's award winning exhibits. He has served on the Board for the Texas Association of Museums and the National Association for Museum Exhibition. He is on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Historic Sites advisory committee, is a Steering Committee member of the Texas Cultural and Heritage Tourism Council and has served as a grant reviewer for the National Endowment for the Humanities.
